PORT WING TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Meeting called to order at 7pm, by Chairman, Scott Jardine.    Present were Scott Jardine, Ken Bodeen, Carri Hoagland, Pam Holt, Brett Bodeen, Troy Kavajecz and Sam Kurland. Nora Tribys was absent. Motion was made to accept the meeting minutes from 11-12-2024 by Ken Bodeen second by Carri Hoagland.  All in favor. Motion was made by Carri Hoagland, second by Ken Bodeen to accept the November 2024 Treasurer report.  All in favor.

Citizen’s Input – Planning Commission.  Sharon Graham reported – Dock Grant – State wants a 25-year lease in place with the Army Corp of Engineers.  Need a technical Engineer’s report completed – $2,500-5,000 fee.   Stove in town call works ok.  Need to replace exhaust fan to comply to current code.  Need a hood which can cost $500-2000.  Will get a quote from Benson Electric.  Concerned about properties in town with different zoning – currently some do not comply.  Desire to keep current zoning in place.

Fire Department/EMT.   Reviewed Fire Department and EMT reports.   Tygar still working on Asset list.

ON GOING BUSINESS:  

  • Solar Project/EV/Microgrid – engineers requested well voltage.
  • Blacktop/Road projects –Culverts in 2025 – 2 on Pennsylvania Ave and 3 on White Birch. Need to coordinate culvert for Johnson Store with Hwy 13 re-pavement. Need culvert for crosswalk project.  Received grant for Grand Avenue.  Need to re-bid White Birch, Touve and Lakeshore for this spring.
  • Town Policy Handbook – tabled for further work to be completed.
  • Equipment Database – still working on updating the information.
  • Wheeler Restoration Site – possible grant opportunities to build a board walk from Quarry Road to the Beach.
  • Zoning violation on property on School Road – need to contact Bayfield County.
  • Driveway ordinance – are existing driveway’s “grandfathered” in? Need to amend ordinance.
  • Electricity at Dump/Recycle Center – Motion to accept quote from Benson Electric for $4,395 by Carri Hoagland, second by Ken Bodeen. All in favor.
  • Motion to purchase and finance new Snowplow Truck by Ken Bodeen, second by Carri Hoagland. All in favor.

NEW BUSINESS:  

  • Caucus set for January 18th at 10am at the Fire Hall. Town officials to be nominated for Spring Election.

ZONING REQUESTS: None

TOWN CREW REPORT: Crew working on general maintenance – sewer plant, burials, maintenance of equipment.

Next meeting set for January 20th, 2024, at 7pm AT FIRE HALL.  UPDATED TO JANUARY 16th.   Future meeting dates tentative for Feb 10th and March 10th at 7pm.  Meeting adjourned by Carri Hoagland, second by Ken Bodeen.  All in favor.
