Meeting called to order at 7pm, by Chairman, Scott Jardine. Present were Scott Jardine, Ken Bodeen, Carri Hoagland, Pam Holt, Brett Bodeen, Troy Kavajecz and Sam Kurland. Motion was made to accept the meeting minutes from 9-16-2024 by Carri Hoagland, second by Ken Bodeen. All in favor. Motion was made by Ken Bodeen, second by Carri Hoagland to accept the September 2024 Treasurer report. All in favor.
Citizen’s Input – Planning Commission. Sharon Graham reported that we may not be eligible for the State Grant for the dock replacement because the property is owned by the Federal Government. More research on this to come. The budget for this project is $160k. Sharon brought up the Park Commission that was established via ordinance 1-97 and Leann Hess was a member. Town Board swore in Sharon Graham, Judy Moyer, Ann Workman and Ken Bodeen as Planning Commission members.
Fire Department/EMT. Reviewed Fire Department and EMT reports. Pumper repair failed. Tygar Leveque will put together a comprehensive list of all the fire department equipment. Need to start researching the availability and cost of a replacement pumper truck.
ON GOING BUSINESS:
• South Shore School referendum – Danielle Mikula addressed the board and attendees with details on the referendum and what is included in the proposal. Addressed wants vs. needs. The property tax increase per $100k of valuation will be $196 for 21 years. The targeted completion date for the improvements is currently scheduled for October 2027.
• Solar Project/EV/Microgrid – meeting with Bill Bailey and the Dept of Energy on Saturday for a tour of the town sites.
• Blacktop/Road projects –Need to complete grant paperwork on Kinney Valley culvert project. Highway “H” to “A” pavement is scheduled for 2027. Crew working on culverts on 5th and Pennsylvania, and 6th and Pennsylvania. 3 more to complete on White Birch.
• Town Policy Handbook – tabled for further work to be completed.
• Equipment Database – still working on updating the information.
• Wheeler Restoration Site – Carri in communication with the DNR to find out more details.
NEW BUSINESS:
• Snow Plow list will be sent out to town crew early November.
• Reviewed Gas Tax Map
ZONING REQUESTS: None
TOWN CREW REPORT: Northwoods Asphalt has recommended that there should be no new patching the rest of the year due to weather changes. Grader maintenance/repairs have been completed. Working on brushing on Battle Axe Rd. Worked on clearing out plants at the Sewer site. Removing docks. Need to replace exit lights at Town Hall. Approved by Board.
Next meeting set for Nov 11th (TUESDAY), 2024, at 7pm AT FIRE HALL. Budget meeting will begin at 6PM Meeting adjourned by Carri Hoagland, second by Ken Bodeen. All in favor.
