August 7, 2023

Meeting called to order at 7 pm, by Chairman, Scott Jardine. Pledge of Allegiance. Present were Scott Jardine, Ken Bodeen (via Teams), Carri Hoagland, Pam Holt, Nora Tribys, Brett Bodeen, Sam Kurland, and Troy Kavajecz. Motion was made to accept the meeting minutes from 7-10-23 by Carri Hoagland, second by Scott Jardine. All in favor. Motion was made by Carri Hoagland, second by Ken Bodeen to accept the July 2023 Treasurer report. All in favor.

Citizen’s Input –

  • Planning Committee. No update
  • Fire Department/EMT. Ambulance report read. Discussed Fire Department report – Fire Inspections. Need details to make resolution to officially make the Fire Department part of the Town. Requested By-Laws from Tygar Leveque. Discussed plan to replace Turn Out gear. Fish Boil has committed to fund one set up to $3,500. Scott requested financials from Tygar.

ON GOING BUSINESS:

  • Solar Project/EV/Microgrid – Resolution was sent to Bill Bailey after last meeting.
  • Blacktop projects – Still waiting for results of grant request. Need to clarify when Hwy 13 is getting repaved. Ken Bodeen will call Bob Anderson
  • Health and Rec Grant – Resurface is complete and looks great! Total Donations/Grants for the project was $25,817. Total Expenses $29,008. Motion may by Ken Bodeen for the town to cover the shortfall of Donations/Grant to expenses ($3,191), second by Carri Hoagland. All in favor
  • Sewer extension on 5th St. Received estimate from Rocky Tribovich. Need to calculate how to assess cost to land owners. Tabled discussion until further research is completed. Pam to ask Marge Ogren on how the assessments were calculated when system was first installed.
  • Pam and Ken to meet before next meeting to review Kinney Valley culvert expenses and request reimbursement from the State of Wisconsin.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Bayfield County – ATV Routes on County Road. County had listening session.
  • Bayfield County Bridge Aid Policy- Aug 1st Deadline. Need to make sure we include in budget for 2024 and request any necessary aid from the county at that time.
  • Bayfield County Zoning – letter from DSPS – mentions that Port Wing oversees the building permits. Carri Hoagland to attend for the Board.
  • Speed Limit through town – how do we get reduced to 30mph. Pam will contact DOT to understand the process better.
  • ATV Routes – need input for County Road A. 20 people at meeting were all against ATV routes on county roads.
  • US Army Corp of Engineers – notice for projects in the harbor. Scott Jardine will contact.
  • Kayak/Canoe Launch at Wheeler Restoration site. Motion was made by Ken Bodeen to accept offer of improvement from the DNR, second by Carri Hoagland. All in favor.
  • Payroll overtime/comp time policy review. Current policy will remain in place.

ZONING REQUESTS: None

OPERATOR’S INPUT: Troy provided calendar of projects/To-do list. Reviewed invoices from Trusty Trucking and Tenet (culverts). Pam will scan copies to town crew.

Nora Tribys mentioned Dock fees have not been changed for 20 years. Will make a note to update during budgeting process.

Next meeting set for Monday September 11, 2023, at 7pm AT FIRE HALL. Meeting adjourned by Ken Bodeen, second by Carri Hoagland. All in favor.
