April 19, 2022

Meeting called to order at 7:50 pm, by Chairman, Russell Bailey.    Present were Russell Bailey, Ken Bodeen, Pam Holt, Marge Ogren and Nora Tribys, Troy Kavajecz, DuWayne Zupke and Brett Bodeen.

Motion was made to accept the March 2, 2022, March 16, 2022 and April 5, 2022 minutes as presented by Ken Bodeen, second by Scott Jardine.  All in favor.   Motion was made by Ken Bodeen to accept the March 2022 Treasurer report with a second by Scott Jardine.  All in favor.

Fire Department/EMT have raised $30k with their fundraiser.  14 people took CPR classes at the church.

Citizen’s Input

ON GOING BUSINESS: 

Blacktop – Ken working on BIL applications.  There will be 80/20 projects going on for the next 4-5 years. Fiscal year 2023 applications are due on June 3rd.

ARPA Funds – we will be repairing the sewer line pipe on Braff Road.  Need to advertise for bids as a Class 1 project.

Health & Wellness Grant – Committee will meet to discuss applying for additional funding.

NEW BUSINESS:

Scenic Byway.  Russell met with Bell, Clover and Bayfield County to discuss Bell building a visitor center/museum along the Scenic Byway.

Clean up Day – set for June 4th with June 11th as back-up day.  Tom Delimat will come before to prep the Town Hall with scraping and priming prep work.  He recommends two coats of paint.  Motion made to hire Economy Painters to prep the Town Hall for painting by Scott Jardine. Second by Ken Bodeen.  All in favor.

White Birch emergency culvert. The town will be replacing a damaged culvert on White Birch.

Bayfield County Road Aid will be used on Almstead Road.

Kinney Valley Project – Engineering.  Bill Kovaleski and Scott Weyandt were in attendance and were asked to submit proposals to oversee the project.  Scott is working with area towns assisting them with defining and drafting RFQs for the next round of funding.

Resolution 2021-630 Property Taxes.  Vilas County is asking for support to protest the current levy limits set by the State of Wisconsin.  Scott Jardine moved to write a letter in support of Resolution 2021-630 to Vilas County. Second by Ken Bodine.  All in favor.

Gravel Purchases – The town will be ordering gravel as needed this year.

ATV signs were removed on DOT signs as requested by the DOT.

ZONING REQUESTS:   None

OPERATOR’S INPUT:  Pump for sewer plant – needs replacement and is ok to order.  Wheeler Drive will need survey to be added in WISLR.  Need rear mounted blades for tractor.  The costs is approx. $14k.  Scott would like us to prioritize large dollar equipment and verify that it fits into our budget.  Are we able to charge residents for its use to subsidize paying for the equipment?

Next meeting set for Monday, May 9th, 2022 at 7pm. Meeting adjourned at 9:15pm by Scott Jardine with a second by Ken Bodeen.  All in favor.
